Based in Vietnam out of our centrally located Ho Chi Minh City office, what3words is looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer who knows code, and enjoys solving problems and designing, building and scaling robust services and solutions. You'll be working to deliver our product roadmap, choosing technologies and delivering projects. At what3words, we're proud of our tech stack. We have built a massively scalable, microservices-based architecture, based around Kubernetes on AWS. You'll be exposed to technologies such as Docker, EKS, Spring, Flux, Consul, CircleCI, OCR/Alexa/voice recognition, ArcGIS and other platforms. 5+ years of commercial Java development Experience working with a Java web framework (we use Spring for the tech test) Knowledge of or interest in working with JNI/C++ Full development lifecycle deployment including: we use Docker & Kubernetes Commercial experience working with SQL & DB schema design Ability to work independently on significant features over several sprints seeing work through shipping Able to work directly with PMs/QA/clients to define requirements Keen to own things and work end-to-end on features
