Job Summary: The Category Manager plays a crucial role in driving business success by strategically managing and developing a seed product category. This includes analyzing market trends, understanding customer preferences, and collaborating with various internal departments to maximize sales and profitability. Your day-to-day: Strategic Planning: ● Develop and implement a comprehensive category strategy aligned with overall business objectives. ● Conduct market research and analysis to identify opportunities for growth within the seed category. Assortment Planning: ● Determine the product assortment for the seed category, considering market trends, customer preferences, and competitive landscape. ● Collaborate with vendors and negotiate terms to ensure a diverse and competitive product offering. Inventory Management: ● Optimize inventory levels to meet demand while minimizing overstock or stockouts. ● Work closely with the supply chain and logistics teams to ensure efficient inventory flow. Vendor Management: ● Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors. ● Negotiate pricing, terms, and promotional opportunities to enhance profitability. Promotions and Pricing: ● Plan and execute promotions and pricing strategies to drive sales and meet financial targets. ● Monitor competitor pricing and market trends to stay competitive. Cross-functional Collaboration: ● Collaborate with marketing, sales, and operations teams to ensure seamless execution of seed category strategies. ● Provide guidance and support for product launches, marketing campaigns, and promotional activities. Performance Analysis: ● Monitor and analyze seed category performance using key performance indicators (KPIs). ● Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions. Customer Insights: ● Gather and analyze customer feedback and market trends to anticipate and meet customer needs. ● Recommend product enhancements or innovations based on customer insights.
● Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. ● Proven 5-7 years’ experience in category management, product management, or a related field especially in agriculture company. ● In-depth understanding of the industry, market trends, and consumer behavior related to the seed product category. ● Ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans for the growth and success of the assigned product category. ● Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, supply chain, and finance. ● Familiarity with relevant technology, including inventory management systems, data analytics tools, and other software used in category management. ● Should have professional working-level proficiency in English.
