The role of Operations Manager ensures the daily operations of the magazine run smoothly and efficiently. Below is a job description for the title Operations Manager in a magazine: RESPONSIBILITY 1. Managing the magazine production process: - Coordinate and manage the entire magazine production process, including information collection, content processing, editing, graphic design, printing and finishing. - Work with the design team to ensure the interface is aesthetic, attractive and consistent with the magazine's brand identity. - Monitor the printing and finishing process of the magazine, including selecting a printer, checking printing quality, and ensuring that the magazine is printed and completed on schedule. - Ensure compliance with quality standards and production schedules. 2. Resource management: - Coordinate and manage human resources, materials, equipment and financial resources to ensure the magazine's operations run smoothly. - Determine resource needs, plan and allocate them according to priorities and priorities of journal activities. 3. Cost and budget management: - Monitor and manage the magazine's budget, ensuring that activities are carried out within the prescribed budget framework. - Look for cost savings opportunities, evaluate and manage financial risks, and plan spending appropriately. 4. Quality management: - Apply quality control standards and procedures to ensure the quality of the journal. - Ensure that the magazine's content, photography, printing and layout meet quality requirements and reader expectations. - Negotiate and sign contracts, ensuring that partnerships are built on respect and long-term cooperation. 5. Manage relationships with customers, partners and suppliers: - Resolve customer service related issues. - Establish and maintain relationships with printers, material suppliers, promotional partners and other stakeholders. 6. Innovation and improvement: - Monitor market trends, technology and changes in the newspaper industry to introduce improvements and innovations in production and distribution processes. - Recommend and implement improvements to enhance the performance, quality and competitiveness of the journal. 7. Human resource management: - Ensure efficiency and employee satisfaction in the magazine operations department. - Assign tasks, provide guidance and training, and promote employee development and competency. 8. Business development - Use an in-depth knowledge of the markets to contribute to the strategic sales plan then drive implementation of the plan with the sales team to manage sales activity & relationships with key clients. - Lead and motivate the sales team by setting clear performance expectations and developing capability in line with the current and future requirements of the business. - Develop strong relationships with agency / client top management and through all levels in these organisations to maximise revenue opportunities and position the company as advertising partner of choice. - Build & develop strategy by setting up objectives, planning & cost controlling for all above the line & below the line activities.
Qualifications and Experience: - University degree in a related field, such as Business Administration, Economics, or other relevant fields. - Experience working in the media, publishing, or related industries, with at least 4 years of experience in a management position. Knowledge and Skills: - Understanding of production processes and operations of a magazine, media. - Knowledge of graphic design, printing processes, and publishing technology. - Leadership, personnel management, and project management skills. - Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and risk management capabilities. - Effective communication, negotiation, and teamwork skills. - Proficiency in resource management and financial management. - Strong project management skills and proficiency in applicable technologies. - Fluency in English
