Payment Integration Project The client is a Singaporean wealth management platform operating in multiple regions. They offer various payment methods for customers to deposit funds into their investment portfolios. The key project for this engagement is a payment integration with one of the leading payment methods in Malaysia: FPX/DOBW. The primary objectives are: ● Enable convenient & instant deposits for our customers in Malaysia through a highly adopted payment method. ● Deliver an optimised deposit experience within our mobile app with the new payment method ● Seamlessly integrate this new payment method into our existing payment systems, back-office operations, notification, and reconciliation processes. Some additional context on FPX/DOBW: ● FPX is the leading bank transfer payment method in Malaysia, but it is being sunset in favour of DuitNow Online Banking/Wallets (DOBW). Due to its scale & required adoption, the migration period is quite long, and we are working with our partner to confirm the most appropriate payment method for us to integrate with, given our current timeframe. In either case, we estimate that the scope of work will not significantly diverge. ● FPX/DOBW is built & operated by PayNet, Malaysia’s national payment network, with integration through banking partners. This project will therefore involve 3 main stakeholders: our client, their selected banking partner, and PayNet. Scope of work Internal team setup ● Our product “squads” are cross-functional teams (product manager, product designer, tech lead, developers) that own their domains and drive initiatives within their scope. We have an in-house Funding Squad that owns the funding flows domain, which includes payment integrations. ● Our intent is to spin up a second funding squad that can independently drive & deliver their backlog within this domain while having close alignment & collaboration with our existing funding squad and roadmap. This new squad will also follow our internal development practices, have access to our dev environments, and generally work within our internal org. ● Support will be provided on multiple levels: high-level planning, scoping, and solutioning by our engineering manager, tech lead, and lead PM, and onboarding & day-to-day support with our in-house devs, but the team is expected to ramp up and independently execute their backlog. Project involvements The team’s backlog will primarily consist of work items for the MY payment integration project, but since we are treating this team as a second funding squad, their backlog may also reflect the overall priorities of the domain’s roadmap, which may additionally include other project work items, maintenance, support, or other tasks. During the onboarding and orientation period, the backlog will reflect tasks that enable familiarisation with our various systems and codebases.
